Graduate-level Teaching
Text Analysis (UD, 2023)
This course provides an introduction to "text as data methods'' for social science research. The course details how to apply these methods for tasks pertaining to data representation, discovery, measurement, prediction, and causal inference. It does so through engagement with recent political science research as well as insights from computational social science and overlapping fields such as natural language processing and computational linguistics.
Environmental Politics & Policy (UD, 2017, 2019)
This graduate seminar first examines the domestic side of environmental politics, so as to understand the roles of domestic institutions, partisanship, public opinion, and interest groups in shaping environmental policy outputs and outcomes. It then explores the connections between environmental factors and political violence, before turning to international environmental problems and their potential solutions.
Introduction to Statistical Analysis for Political Science (UD, 2016, 2018-2021, 2023)
Introductory graduate course on quantitative methods covering topics such as causal inference, research design, probability, descriptive statistics, bivariate and multivariate regression, and statistical software best practices.
Statistical Analysis for Political Science II (UD, 2019, 2021, 2022)
Second graduate course on quantitative methods covering topics such as the estimation and interpretation of limited dependent variable models, tools for model prediction and model assessment, multilevel models, and maximum likelihood estimation.
Maximum Likelihood Estimation (UMN, 2013, 2014)
Advanced graduate course in quantitative methods. Topics include maximum likelihood theory and the estimation & interpretation of models for limited dependent variables, including binary, nominal, ordinal, proportional, count, and duration based-measures.
Calculus for Political Science (UMN, 2013, 2014)
Taught the calculus component to Minnesota's graduate level mathematics for political science "bootcamp" course. Topics covered included derivatives and partial derivatives, constrained optimization, derivatives of vectors and matrices, and integrals.

Undergraduate-level Teaching
Introduction to Global Politics (UD 2016)
Introductory-level course on the scientific study of international relations. Among other topics, this course examines the diplomatic, military, and economic interactions among nation-states; and provides students with an overview of the various analytic approaches that are commonly used to analyze and/or understand these interactions.
Politics and the Environment (UD 2016-2022)
Intermediate-level undergraduate course in environmental politics and policy. The course primarily examines U.S. environmental problems and politics, though global environmental issues are also introduced and discussed. This is a required course for majors in Environmental Science and Environmental studies.
Quantitative Analysis in Political Science (UMN, 2014, 2015; UD 2015)
Undergraduate course in research design & quantitative methods. Topics include theory building & research design, causal inference, measurement theory & descriptive statistics, statistical inference, bivariate hypothesis testing, and bivariate & multivariate regression.
Internship in Political Science & IR (UD 2018-2021)
Coordination and oversight of graded course-component to UD's undergraduate internships in political science or international relations-related fields. Graded assignments include prepared journal entries detailing students' internship activities and a final course project.
Global Environmental Cooperation (UMN, 2013, 2015)
Upper-level undergraduate course, writing intensive. Topics include the nature of international environmental problems, international environmental negotiation & agreement design, compliance with international environmental institutions, and the political-economic implications of international environmental problems.
International Political Economy (PSU, 2012)
Upper-level undergraduate course in international political economy. Topics include the politics of international trade, international finance, globalization, international development, international migration, and international institutions.
